Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, is set to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, January 2, 2026, following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West in Mangu Local Government Area, the governor announced his decision to leave the party with immediate effect. He cited the need for purposeful leadership and a clear direction as reasons for his exit.
Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the PDP for the platform it provided and thanked party members for their support throughout his political journey.
Explaining his decision to defect, the governor said joining the APC was a strategic move aimed at aligning Plateau State more closely with the policies of the Federal Government to accelerate development and deliver greater dividends of democracy to residents.
He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, unity, and stability, noting that the move would help fast-track economic growth and infrastructural development across the state.
The governor’s official registration and presentation of his APC membership card will take place at Victoria Gowon Hall, Government House, Rayfield, by 11:00 a.m. He is also scheduled to visit the APC State Secretariat at Kalwa House, Jos, to meet with party leaders and supporters.
