Former acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has commended President Bola Tinubu for policies he said are restoring the confidence of young Nigerians in the country.
Speaking at the Gala Night of the National Industrial Manpower Summit 2025 held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Magu praised the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a blueprint for youth empowerment, skills development, and institutional strengthening.
“Through your Renewed Hope Agenda, you are giving the next generation a reason to believe again and tonight, we say thank you,” Magu said in his address made available to journalists on Sunday.
He added that Tinubu’s leadership continues to inspire “bold thinking, courageous reforms, and a renewed commitment to national development,” noting that youths are beginning to envision a future for themselves within Nigeria.
Citing examples of innovation and resilience, the former EFCC boss said young people are building tech startups in Yaba, running farms in Nasarawa, growing fashion businesses in Aba, and developing mobile apps in Kaduna.
“Our youths are not weak. They are not lazy. They are not waiting to be rescued. They are ready to lead,” Magu said.
While applauding Tinubu’s policies, he warned that corruption remains the biggest threat to manpower development. “When youths must pay bribes to get jobs, when contractors abandon training projects, when funds meant for empowerment end up in private accounts then the bridge between potential and productivity begins to crack,” he cautioned.
Magu urged young Nigerians to reject corruption and embrace integrity, stressing that true leadership begins with character. He called for transparent recruitment processes, better education spending, whistleblower protection, and recognition for integrity in public and private service.
Concluding, he said Tinubu’s reforms, combined with the energy of Nigeria’s youth, could usher in a new era.
“I believe in Nigeria. I believe in her youth. I believe the future is not far it is here, it is now, and it is ours to shape,” Magu declared.
