The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed all Nigerian public universities to conclude their 2025 admission processes by October 31, 2025.
The board also instructed private universities to finalise admissions by November 30, while all other tertiary institutions, public and private, must complete their admissions by December 31, 2025.
The directive was contained in JAMB’s weekly bulletin released on Monday, in line with the resolutions of the 2025 Policy Meeting chaired by the Minister of Education.
According to JAMB, the deadlines are designed to stabilise the nation’s academic calendar and ensure fair access to admission slots across institutions.
“Even where an institution is not yet ready to commence the new academic session, such an institution should conduct its admission and archive it,” the bulletin stated.
The board further urged tertiary institutions conducting post-UTME screenings to conclude their exercises promptly in order to meet the stipulated deadlines.
The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results were released in May. The exam, scored out of 400 marks, tests candidates in four subjects, including compulsory Use of English.
Between 2020 and 2024, over 8.9 million candidates sat for the UTME, but only about 2.7 million secured admission leaving over six million applicants without placement, many of whom had to retake the exam in subsequent years.
