Abeokuta, Nigeria — The Ogun State Government has officially declared Tuesday, August 20, a public holiday in celebration of this year’s Isese Day. This move underscores the Dapo Abiodun administration’s commitment to promoting religious inclusivity within the state.
In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the government announced that the work-free day will provide an opportunity for traditional worshippers across Ogun State to observe and celebrate their special day.
“Ogun State remains an exemplary federating unit with an enviable level of religious cohesion and harmony, even in the face of diversity,” the statement highlighted, reflecting the state’s dedication to fostering a peaceful coexistence among various religious groups.
The government also called on traditional worshippers to celebrate in moderation, urging them to respect the religious practices of others to maintain the state’s culture of religious tolerance.
In addition, the statement encouraged adherents to use the festive period to pray for the continued peace and economic growth of Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole. It emphasized that collective prayers play a crucial role in the success and prosperity of any nation.
