The Court of Appeal of Nigeria sitting in Abuja has upheld the suspension of several senior officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Among those affected are former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, Deputy Legal Adviser Okechukwu Osuoha and National Organising Secretary Umaru Bature.
The appellate court delivered the ruling while also affirming an earlier judgment of the Federal High Court of Nigeria issued by Justice James Omotosho.
The officials were initially suspended by the party’s PDP National Working Committee on November 1, 2025, following internal disputes within the opposition party.
In its decision, the appeal court also upheld the October 31, 2025 ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the PDP’s 2025 National Convention.
The development marks another legal twist in the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP as factions continue to battle over control and legitimacy within the party structure.
