Prince Onukwue of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has been elected as the new Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Abia State for the 2026–2028 tenure.
The keenly contested election was held in Umuahia at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), marking a leadership transition from the immediate past State Chairman, Nelson Uluocha of the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
Seventeen of the 19 registered political party chairmen in the state participated in the exercise, which was supervised by IPAC national representatives in collaboration with INEC officials.
Other officials elected include Mrs. Victoria Akabuike of the Boot Party as Deputy Chairman and Larry Charles of the Action Peoples Party as State Secretary, among others.
The newly elected executives were sworn in immediately after the voting process.
In his acceptance speech, Onukwue thanked his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him, pledging that IPAC under his leadership would support progressive policies in the state while constructively criticising the Abia State Government when necessary.
It would be recalled that the Zenith Labour Party won the November 2, 2024 local government elections in Abia State.
