The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is not a member of its party, insisting it cannot interfere in how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) manages its internal matters.
Despite Wike’s role in supporting APC candidates during the recently concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections — where the APC secured victory in five of the six local government areas — the party maintained that he remains a PDP member.
Ahead of the election, Wike had pledged support for candidates aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, a move widely seen as cross-party collaboration.
Speaking on Arise News, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed suggestions that the party should comment on Wike’s actions as anti-party conduct.
“No, listen, you’re asking for me to speculate, and I will not speculate. That question is for the PDP. You should direct that question to the PDP as to how they organise their party, how they treat their members, how they handle matters like this in the Peoples Democratic Party,” Morka said.
“I cannot speculate on a matter that rests exclusively within the party,” he added.
The APC’s position underscores its view that any disciplinary action regarding Wike’s political activities lies solely with the PDP.
