Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has affirmed his commitment to delivering the benefits of effective governance to the people of the state.
During a ceremony to distribute grains and commodities to farmers in Owo local government on Thursday, Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented by the Ondo state deputy governor, Olayide Adelami, emphasized the importance of the initiative in bolstering poultry farming and ensuring access to safe, nutritious, and ample food supplies in the state.
According to a statement by John Paul Akinduro, spokesperson to the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the initiative and urged beneficiaries to utilize the grains for their intended purpose.
“The distribution of free grains aims to lower food prices and alleviate the economic challenges faced by Nigerians. Governor Aiyedatiwa remains committed to ensuring that the people of Ondo State benefit from good governance and swift government interventions tailored to their specific needs,” Adelami remarked.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State chapter of the Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria announced a reduction in the price of a crate of eggs from N5,000 to N3,000 following the distribution of 1,200 metric tonnes of grains and commodities as palliatives to its members by Governor Aiyedatiwa in Akure.
Olawande Fadipe, Chairman of the Ondo State Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria, expressed appreciation to the President and Governor for the intervention, noting the recent challenges faced by poultry farmers due to rising costs of animal feeds and day-old chickens. Gideon Oluleye, Southwest Chairman of the Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria, also hailed the distribution of grains, anticipating its positive impact on poultry production and product stability in Ondo State markets.
