The All Progressives Congress (APC) has given assurance to aspirants vying for the party’s ticket in the Edo governorship election scheduled for September 21. Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the APC national chairman, conveyed this commitment during the inauguration of the Screening and Appeal Committees for the primary election on February 17 at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Represented by the APC national organizing secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Arugungu, Ganduje emphasized the party’s dedication to conducting free, fair, credible, and seamless primaries. He urged the committees to prioritize transparency and fairness in their assessments of the aspirants.
Ganduje stated, “As you proceed to engage with the task for which you have been nominated, please, be rest assured that we have made sure that the exercise will be hitch free and seamless with the presence of a Secretariat Support Team.”
In response, the Chairman of the Screening Committee, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership for the opportunity to serve. He assured that the panel would adhere to the party’s Constitution and guidelines throughout the screening process. The Screening Committee includes members such as Sen. Ibrahim Oloriegbe, Adeoye Adelakum, Mr. Darlington Dick, Mr. Lawal Abdullahi, Ms. Margaret Duru, and Mr. Sani Danjuma, who serves as the secretary.
As of the deadline for the submission of expression of interest and nomination forms on Wednesday, twelve aspirants had purchased and returned their completed forms, each sold at N500,000,000. The aspirants include Clem Agba, Monday Okpebholo, Lucky Imasuen, Anamero Dekeri, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Gideon Ikhine, retired Col. David Imuse, retired Gen. Charles Ehigie Airhiavbere, Oserheimen Osunbor, Blessing Agbomhere, Dennis Idahosa, and Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe.
