Party Expresses Displeasure Over Lack of Development Despite Federal Allocation
Accusing the Siminalayi Fubara-led administration in Rivers State of mismanaging funds, the All Progressives Congress (APC) claims that the state government squandered N144.28 billion received from the federation account between June 2023 and December 2023. The revelation was made by Chief Tony Okocha, the Chairman of the APC caretaker committee in the state, during a visit to the State House of Assembly in Port Harcourt.
Okocha, citing data from the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), expressed disappointment that the substantial amount, received in addition to the ₦10 billion monthly internally generated revenue (IGR), has not translated into tangible development in the state. He warned that the party would take action against any member involved in the alleged misuse of the state’s resources.
Addressing the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, Okocha emphasized the party’s commitment to holding accountable those engaged in looting the state’s resources. In response, Amaewhule thanked the APC leadership for the visit, stating that it would strengthen the members of the House, 27 of whom are affiliated with the All Progressives Congress.
