The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has inaugurated newly elected ward and local government executives, urging them to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and maintain unity among members.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in Ikeja, where the state chairman of the party, Cornelius Ojelabi, officially inaugurated the executives and charged them to carry out their responsibilities with dedication and commitment to the party’s values.
Speaking during the event, Ojelabi stressed that unity within the party is crucial, warning members against actions capable of creating division as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
He explained that the inauguration represents an important step in strengthening the party’s internal framework and positioning it for future political activities.
According to him, the newly elected officials were chosen to manage the affairs of the party in their wards and local government areas for the next four years, adding that their leadership would play a key role in expanding the party’s influence.
Ojelabi noted that the party’s strong presence in Lagos politics has largely been sustained through its extensive grassroots network. He therefore encouraged the executives to preserve and reinforce that structure in their respective communities.
He added that the responsibilities ahead are significant and require diligence, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of the party.
The chairman further urged party leaders and stakeholders to work together in harmony, noting that the executives emerged through a democratic process and must collaborate to deepen the party’s reach at the grassroots level.
He also advised them to work closely with local government party leaders and intensify mobilisation efforts among members and supporters.
Ojelabi assured the new executives of the backing of the party leadership and the state government, reiterating that effective leadership at the ward and local government levels remains vital to sustaining the APC’s political strength in Lagos State.
