Segun Sowunmi has questioned the substance and practical details of Peter Obi’s campaign proposals ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on TVC’s Politics on Sunday, Sowunmi challenged Obi’s plans to move Nigeria from consumption to production, demanding clarity on how such a transition would be funded and implemented.
He also questioned proposals for boosting agriculture in Niger State, asking how the government would incentivise farmers and achieve the scale of production being discussed.
“What is the cost component of what he’s trying to do? What is the time frame by which he will implement it?” he asked.
Sowunmi argued that presidential candidates must explain not only what they intend to achieve but also how their policies would navigate the National Assembly, budgetary processes and the civil service.
He further questioned claims associated with Obi’s tenure as Anambra State governor, particularly regarding the state’s financial obligations.
According to Sowunmi, successive administrations in Anambra had challenged some of Obi’s claims concerning the state’s debts.
He also said Obi’s political message had significant emotional appeal among people advocating political equity for the South-East.
Sowunmi’s remarks come amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 presidential election, which INEC has scheduled for January 16, 2027.
