The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged civil society organisations (CSOs) in Kogi State to partner with the agency in sensitising the public on government policies, programmes, and security awareness.
The North Central Zonal Director of NOA, Dr. Priscilla Gondoalour, made the appeal on Friday during a meeting with the Kogi NGO Network (KONGONET) in Lokoja.
“The crucial role CSOs play in national development is well documented,” Gondoalour said, stressing that stronger collaboration was vital in addressing insecurity, particularly in the North Central Zone which has been severely impacted by violent attacks and instability.
She called on CSOs to help strengthen community security consciousness and ensure citizens are better informed about government initiatives.
In his response, KONGONET Chairman, Hamza Aliyu, welcomed the initiative and assured the agency of the network’s commitment to working closely with NOA. “We are committed to effective collaboration and support in driving national progress,” he said.
Earlier, the Kogi State Director of NOA, Mr. Patrick Edogbonya, explained that the zonal director’s visit was intended to deepen partnerships with non-governmental organisations to advance the Federal Government’s developmental goals.
In a related engagement, Dr. Gondoalour also met with the Association of Heads of Federal Establishments (AHFE) in Kogi, where she urged ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to create stronger awareness channels for informing the public about government activities.
She emphasised that partnerships with NOA were crucial to achieving the agency’s mandate of sensitising Nigerians on policies and programmes while promoting security consciousness.
Responding, AHFE Chairman, Mr. Gabriel Audu, assured the zonal director of the group’s readiness to collaborate with NOA, especially in promoting community vigilance. “Security is everyone’s responsibility,” he said, thanking Gondoalour for highlighting security measures during the session.
The NOA said the visit formed part of a broader effort to mobilise stakeholders in Kogi State to support Federal Government programmes and improve public trust through consistent grassroots engagement.
