Former Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has revealed his ambitions to return to coaching, expressing a particular interest in managing the England national football team.
Speaking on The Sports Agents podcast on Thursday, Lampard, who was dismissed from his managerial role at Chelsea in 2021, admitted he is keen to take the helm of the Three Lions, a position that could soon be available following Gareth Southgate’s expected departure after Euro 2024.
“As an English player who played 100-plus times, and as someone very proud of representing the country, of course, the England set-up is something I would be interested in,” Lampard stated. “I think it would be crazy not to consider it.”
With Lampard’s name circulating as a potential successor, the 45-year-old manager could find himself in the running for the role, currently filled by interim coach Lee Carsley, who was appointed in August 2024 for the UEFA Nations League campaign.
Lampard’s previous coaching experience includes stints with Chelsea and Everton, with many speculating that a future in international management could be the next chapter in his career.
