The Bauchi State Government has announced plans for a comprehensive rehabilitation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp located in Wailo village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area. This decision was revealed by Governor Senator Bala Mohammed during a facility tour on Tuesday, aimed at assessing the camp’s condition.
The governor’s visit highlighted the camp’s deteriorating state, with inadequate facilities and infrastructure that have been impacting the effective operation of the NYSC programme in the state.
Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of the NYSC scheme in fostering national unity and development, stating that the rehabilitation of the camp is essential for providing a conducive environment for corps members’ orientation and training.
“The comprehensive rehabilitation will involve the renovation of buildings, upgrading infrastructure, and the provision of modern facilities,” Governor Mohammed said. “This project will be completed in record time to ensure that corps members have a comfortable and productive stay.”
The governor noted that this initiative is part of the state government’s broader efforts to enhance the welfare of corps members, support the NYSC scheme, and contribute to youth development and national service.
Mrs. Rifkatu Daniel, the state coordinator of the NYSC scheme, welcomed the announcement. She remarked that the rehabilitation would not only benefit corps members but also spur economic growth in the local community. The project is expected to create jobs, stimulate local economic activity, and contribute to the overall development of the area.
