Malang Sarr, a former Chelsea defender, has signed with RC Lens. According to a statement from Fabrizio Romano on Friday, Sarr agreed to terms with Lens after Chelsea mutually terminated his contract, which still had a year remaining. As part of the contract termination, Sarr will not receive compensation for the final year of his wages.
Sarr has completed a medical with Lens, and his arrival at the club is expected to be officially announced soon.
After joining Chelsea from Nice four years ago, Sarr spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Porto and had a season-long loan at Monaco in 2022-23. He did not make any appearances for Chelsea last season under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Sarr began his professional career at Nice, where he made 119 first-team appearances before moving to Chelsea. The 25-year-old has represented France up to the Under-21 level but is also eligible to play for Senegal.
