Chelsea in Advanced Talks to Sign Barcelona Youngster Marc Guiu
Chelsea FC is reportedly in advanced discussions to sign Barcelona’s young talent Marc Guiu, according to Spanish media sources. The 18-year-old striker made a notable impact during his time with the first team in the 2023–24 season, scoring two goals in seven appearances across all competitions.
Guiu made his senior debut for Barcelona under coach Xavi Hernandez last October, scoring with his second touch in a crucial 1-0 victory against Athletic Bilbao. His promising performance has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Chelsea.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea has presented a contract offer to Guiu and is prepared to meet the €6 million release clause to expedite the deal. The Blues’ new manager, Enzo Maresca, has reportedly held multiple conversations with Guiu, emphasizing Chelsea’s focus on developing young talent and the potential fit of the Premier League with his playing style.
Guiu is reportedly attracted to Chelsea’s project, particularly their commitment to nurturing young players. This aligns with the club’s recent activities in the transfer market. Just last Saturday, Chelsea announced the signing of Brazilian teenage sensation Estevao Willian from Palmeiras. The 17-year-old will officially join Chelsea next summer when he turns 18.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Marc Guiu reflects their ongoing strategy to build a team with a strong foundation of young, talented players, aiming for long-term success in both domestic and international competitions.
