Urges APC and LP Counterparts to Prioritize Unity over Division
In preparation for the upcoming Edo State Governorship election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the People Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, has extended a call to Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Barr. Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) to collectively commit to issue-based campaigns.
In a congratulatory message to his counterparts on their emergence as flag bearers for their respective parties, Ighodalo emphasized the importance of unity among Edo’s people. He urged all candidates, irrespective of party affiliations, to steer clear of divisive campaign messages and focus on addressing issues pertinent to the state’s progress.
Reflecting on the divisive nature of past elections, Ighodalo stressed the need for a shift towards respectful and issue-centric campaigning. He emphasized, “We must not destroy the unity of the State we seek to govern,” and called on fellow candidates to adopt a similar approach.
Expressing concern about the prevailing economic challenges faced by the citizens, Ighodalo outlined his vision for the state’s prosperity. He, along with his team of young professionals and politicians, aims to enhance economic growth by tackling insecurity, securing financing, and attracting private sector investors to develop intrastate roads. The overarching goal is to generate employment opportunities and improve the overall quality of life for the people of Edo.
Dr. Asue Ighodalo emerged victorious in the PDP Governorship primaries held at the lawn tennis court inside the Ogbe Stadium sports complex on Thursday, February 22, 2024. As the campaign unfolds, Ighodalo remains committed to fostering unity and addressing critical issues that impact the lives of the people of Edo State.
