Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, has taken a significant step towards educational empowerment in his constituency by providing free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to 1,000 brilliant indigent candidates in Ogun State.
This initiative underscores Senator Salisu’s unwavering commitment to promoting educational excellence and enhancing access to educational opportunities for deserving individuals within his senatorial district. The effort aims to identify and support promising candidates who face financial barriers to pursuing their educational aspirations.
To ensure the selection process is fair and comprehensive, a two-pronged approach has been adopted. The Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology collaborated to nominate 600 outstanding indigent candidates from public schools, with 100 candidates selected from each of the six Local Government Areas in Ogun Central Senatorial District based on academic performance.
The remaining 400 candidates were chosen in collaboration with stakeholders across the senatorial district, targeting those who have completed secondary education, possess a minimum of five O’level credits at not more than two sittings, but face financial constraints hindering their academic progression.
In a statement from his media office, Senator Salisu expressed the initiative’s goal of providing critical support to indigent students, emphasizing the importance of education as a transformative force. He acknowledged Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commendable contributions to the education sector in Ogun State and positioned the initiative as an investment in the future intellectual capital of the senatorial district and the nation.
The statement emphasized Senator Salisu’s belief in education as a cornerstone of personal achievements, citing his own life as an example. The senator views this initiative as a strategic investment in the educational advancement of the senatorial district, Ogun State, and the nation at large.
Senator Salisu encouraged the beneficiaries of the free JAMB forms to seize the opportunity, maximize their potential, and assured them of his continued commitment to educational advancement in the constituency, promising additional initiatives in the future.
