Professor (Arc) Geoff Onyejegbu, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former senatorial candidate in the recent general election, has praised former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for his commitment to prioritizing security if he assumes the presidency in 2027.
Onyejegbu, a retired Army Colonel and former Nigerian Military Attaché to the United States in Washington DC Mission, emphasized that Kwankwaso’s potential presidency holds the key to effectively addressing insurgency and terrorism challenges gripping the nation. He made these remarks during the victory celebration of the Kwankwasiya Movement in Kano, following the Supreme Court’s confirmation of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf as the Kano State governor.
The NNPP chieftain highlighted Kwankwaso’s extensive nationwide campaign during the last general elections, where he received a warm welcome in various areas, even in dreaded places such as some areas in Abuja. Onyejegbu underscored the former governor’s acceptance as a leader with a proven track record capable of steering Nigeria out of challenging situations.
According to Onyejegbu, Kwankwaso’s past governance and his dedication to security initiatives as a former governor and minister for defense position him as the ideal candidate to tackle the pressing security challenges facing the nation. He commended Kwankwaso for implementing innovative security strategies during his tenure as the governor of Kano State, resulting in a significant reduction in crime rates and the restoration of peace and stability.
Onyejegbu emphasized Kwankwaso’s ability to address security threats with a comprehensive approach, blending pragmatism and decisiveness. He highlighted that Kwankwaso’s strategy goes beyond military intervention to include socio-economic development and community engagement.
“This holistic approach is crucial for addressing the root causes of insurgency and terrorism and fostering lasting peace and stability across the nation,” stated Onyejegbu.
He appealed to well-meaning Nigerians from all walks of life to support Kwankwaso in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. Onyejegbu urged Nigerians to consider Senator Kwankwaso’s proven leadership credentials and vision for a safer, more prosperous Nigeria. The NNPP chieftain reiterated the party’s unwavering support for Kwankwaso’s presidential candidacy, citing his demonstrated capacity to lead Nigeria towards a future free from the scourge of insurgency and terrorism.
